Pentagram companion Angus Hyland has created trendy takes on two classic video games for the grownup market. With Dazzleship Battleships and Rock Paper Scissors Bomb, Hyland and consumer Laurence King Publishing search to “convey avant-garde aesthetics to bodily gaming.”
Dazzleship Battleships is a repurpose of the basic journey boardgame Battleships as a World Warfare One naval battle. Hyland and staff have weaved ‘dazzle camouflage’ all through the sport, from its field that includes a woodcut cowl by Andrew Davidson, to its two playbooks set on redrawn nautical maps, and its accompanying booklet explaining the historical past of dazzle and its relationship to avant-garde artwork. Maria Hamer of Laurence King Publishing served as designer.
The opposite launch, Rock Paper Scissors Bomb, reprises the favored kids’s playground pastime as a card sport for 2, with the added twist of a bomb that destroys all different playing cards. That includes design and illustration by Mads Berg, this interpretation brings a contact of Italian Futurism to card play.
