Vincent Romeo is in it for the love of the sport … and his appreciation of a design problem. A lifelong baseball fan and veteran artwork director/designer created the colourful marks, background artwork, tags and sample artwork emblazoned on all the pieces associated to the not too long ago concluded Major League Baseball Spring Coaching 2017.
The photos appeared on participant uniforms, group applications, caps, outfield partitions, bases, shirts, backpacks, group web sites and, in fact, baseballs. Romeo, who heads the Romeo + Co. design agency of New York and Florida, has labored with MLB since 1990 and beforehand created the artwork/branding for Opening Day 2006 and the Subway Collection between the Yankees and Mets, in addition to quite a few commemorative group patches.
For the Spring Coaching venture, MLB requested three ideas and in the end selected the one known as “Workforce Batterton” idea that’s stated to replicate the essence of summer time camp, a practice fairly like baseball. From the arrow signage to the patches to the retro palette, Romeo’s purpose was to the touch on the feelings of returning to summer time camp, with the anticipation, camaraderie, friendship, challenges and expertise one experiences, every year.
“The enjoyable retro colours had been extraordinarily essential for me in establishing a way of nostalgia and in addition a way of pleasure,” Romeo stated. “Each sport I attend brings me again to being a child at Yankee Stadium and watching a doubleheader with my Dad and brother. These spring coaching designs are supposed to deliver everybody who sees them again to their very own favourite nostalgic baseball moments, whilst they make new moments and recollections with their family members.”
