Extra flights, extra rewards, extra to like. That is the promise from the latest merger of Alaska Airways and Virgin America. Hornall Anderson, which had rebranded Alaska Airlines during 2016, was requested to create a promotional livery design and microsite to assist rejoice and encourage pleasure for this new merger — promising the most effective of each airways to staff, loyalists, and new flyers alike.


With a chartered course deliberate for up and down the West Coast, the promotional livery expresses the 2 airways coming collectively, whereas celebrating their variations. The pledge of “extra” is expressed via a flood of gradient coloration from nostril to tail. Alaska’s dominant blue and Virgin’s dominant crimson unite in a vibrant purple to “mirror the magic that comes with this merger.”


Hornall Anderson partnered with Mekanism to create a microsite that addresses questions on what the merger means for each Alaska and Virgin flyers and the way it will profit them — particularly the loyalty cardholders. An FAQs web page lets flyers keep updated on developments, and consists of an  aggregated part of fan postings by way of social media.
